The main task of this project is to invite domestic scientists to participate in the meetings of species working groups and scientific meetings held by Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs) to comprehend the stock assessments and scientific advices of management. In this year, there were 16 scientists invited to participate in 19 meetings of RFMOs. The main achievements reached as following：First, there were 14 scientific papers published by our scientists in RFMOs meetings, and the research results were not only included in meetings as reference documentation. Second, the fishery data provided to RFMOs has been gradually accepted and included in the stock assessments, including the albacore stock assessment in ICCAT, the blue marlin stock assessment in ISC, the Southern Atlantic swordfish stock assessment in ICCAT and the southern bluefin tuna stock assessment in CCSBT. Third, the biology researches of billfish conducted by our scientists have been accepted for the research results been applied in the stock assessment model. Forth, our scientist established international cooperation on fisheries science under the frame work of RFMOs, for example our scientist and Japanese scientists had discussed on developing a long-term research project in OMMP meeting of CCSBT this year. |
